We would like to give a big thanks to James Moroney from Zeeko who came to speak to pupils, staff and parents today about the many different aspects of Internet safety and how to ensure children are given the skills necessary to keep themselves safe online. This is such an important topic in the digital world we are now living in. For any parents who were unable to attend this evening, Zeeko have written an excellent in-depth Internet Safety Guide – this can be downloaded here.
3rd and 4th Classes learning about the t-shirt rule. If you wouldn’t put it on your t-shirt, don’t post it on social media!
To celebrate Science Week we were delighted to welcome Dale Treadwell and his dinosaurs to Scoil Chill Ruadhain today! The dinosaurs will be travelling to events all over Ireland this week and we were so lucky to be one of the schools selected! All the children, from Junior Infants to Sixth Class, really enjoyed the show and loved meeting our special visitors!
We were thrilled to receive a visit from some past pupils bearing the Under 12a Football County Cup!
We were delighted to welcome the girls from the Sars U14 Féile team this afternoon. The team recently won the All-Ireland with a number of players winning it for the third year running! We were thrilled to see so many past pupils on the team. We were very surprised and delighted to receive our own award from the team in recognition of our 2-in-a-Row Sciath na Scol victories in recent years!
We were delighted to have a visit from the Fire Brigade this week. They set a chip pan on fire in the yard and showed us the scary effect water has on an oil fire. We learned that every house should have a fire blanket in the kitchen in case of emergencies!
We are so privileged to have had the Army Band visit us again this Christmas for a morning of movie themes and festive tunes. We always love to see them arriving and pupils and staff alike both greatly enjoyed the show. A huge thank you to the whole band, particularly their conductor Noel Galvin, for joining us today!
We were all delighted to have a visit from the London Chamber Brass Quintet this week. They entertained us for over an hour with exciting music and lots of audience participation. We learned all about their instruments and even how to conduct! The musicians were very impressed when we managed to identify all of the film scores correctly!
