Congratulations!

We were delighted to get a visit yesterday from one of our past pupils! Sinéad is on the U16 Cork camogie team who recently won Munster and all Ireland cups. She spoke to 5th and 6th classes and hopefully inspired some of them to similar achievements in the future!

Many thanks to everyone for all your support yesterday as we celebrated the 30 year Anniversary of the Cork double with our RED DAY. We are delighted to announce that we raised €1084.92 for Marymount Hospice.

It was a great day for everyone in Brooklodge NS! I hope you had an opportunity to watch us on Virgin Media news yesterday (12.30 and 5.30pm). It is still available on catch-up online.

See below link to the report on our RED DAY which appeared on today’s Echo.

Science Week

Everyone in Scoil Chill Ruadháin had great fun for Science Week. To celebrate the week we took part in a fantastic Forensic Science workshop. We really enjoyed using the clues to solve the mystery!

Lord Mayor’s Visit

Now that Glanmire is officially part of Cork City, we were delighted to welcome the Lord Mayor,  Cllr John Sheehan, and the Lady Mayoress, Aedamar, to Scoil Chill Ruadháin yesterday. On this historic occassion, we presented the Lord Mayor with a hamper containing a selection of treats produced in Glanmire and were delighted to receive a framed photograph of previous Lord Mayors Tomás Mac Curtain and Terence McSwiney, marking 100 years of school visits by Lord Mayors of Cork.

We would like to give a big thanks to James Moroney from Zeeko who came to speak to pupils, staff and parents today about the many different aspects of Internet safety and how to ensure children are given the skills necessary to keep themselves safe online. This is such an important topic in the digital world we are now living in. For any parents who were unable to attend this evening, Zeeko have written an excellent in-depth Internet Safety Guide – this can be downloaded here.

To celebrate Science Week we were delighted to welcome Dale Treadwell and his dinosaurs to Scoil Chill Ruadhain today! The dinosaurs will be travelling to events all over Ireland this week and we were so lucky to be one of the schools selected! All the children, from Junior Infants to Sixth Class, really enjoyed the show and loved meeting our special visitors!

Football Cup!

We were thrilled to receive a visit from some past pupils bearing the Under 12a Football County Cup!

Féile Team Visit

We were delighted to welcome the girls from the Sars U14 Féile team this afternoon. The team recently won the All-Ireland with a number of players winning it for the third year running! We were thrilled to see so many past pupils on the team. We were very surprised and delighted to receive our own award from the team in recognition of our 2-in-a-Row Sciath na Scol victories in recent years!
