London Chamber Brass Quintet

We were all delighted to have a visit from the London Chamber Brass Quintet this week. They entertained us for over an hour with exciting music and lots of audience participation. We learned all about their instruments and even how to conduct! The musicians were very impressed when we managed to identify all of the film scores correctly!

Alana’s Butterfly Life

Baby Alana and her mum called in recently to collect the cheque for money raised during our non-uniform day. Alana’s cousins are pupils in Scoil Chill Ruadhain and her sister is a past pupil. We were delighted to give our support and to meet Alana.

Stop and Stare

A number of weeks ago, children from Sixth Class took part in a drama production together with a members of the Cope Foundation’s drama group. They spent the day getting to know each other, learning the script and rehearsing together. In the afternoon they put on a performance for the children in 3rd to 5th. The messages portrayed in the drama were simple yet powerful. We saw how words can both hurt and heal; how we can lift others up or bring them down; the lasting impact bullying and negative behaviour can make. All of the children, both actors and spectators, learned a lot from the experience. We would like to extend huge thanks to the Cope Foundation for giving us the opportunity to take part in Stop and Stare, and to help share the important message that all people should be treated the same way.

Well Done Erins Own!

A Visit from the Army Band

Everyone in Scoil Chill Ruadháin was thrilled to be visited by the Army Band today! They played a huge range of songs from Frozen to Lady Gaga to Jingle Bells! They were even joined by two of our pupils who took up the baton as conductor for a number of songs and by Ms Roche who kindly stepped in to play the flute while the flautist was singing! There was a wonderful festive atmosphere in the halla during the concert and all of the children and teachers had great fun singing and dancing along!
