Safer Internet Day 2019

Today is Safer Internet Day 2019.  To mark the occasion everyone in Scoil Chill Ruadhain was very busy learning about how to keep ourselves and others safe online. We learned about the importance of looking for permission before sharing photos of other people and why it is important to keep our personal information private and never share it online. We discussed what to do if we see something which makes us uncomfortable online and why it is important to create rules within our families regarding screen time and Internet use. We were delighted to receive Safer Internet Day wristbands to remind us all that together we can make the Internet safer for everyone!

We would like to give a big thanks to James Moroney from Zeeko who came to speak to pupils, staff and parents today about the many different aspects of Internet safety and how to ensure children are given the skills necessary to keep themselves safe online. This is such an important topic in the digital world we are now living in. For any parents who were unable to attend this evening, Zeeko have written an excellent in-depth Internet Safety Guide – this can be downloaded here.
